Bruins To Unveil Statue Of “The Goal” On Monday (oh yeah…Flyers survive til Monday, too)

After a very exciting game, the Philadelphia Flyers have survived and we’ll have Game 5 back in Boston on Monday at the TD Garden.  Coincidentally, Monday will mark the 40th Anniversary of “The Goal”.  That when Bobby Orr scored his now famous goal to win the Stanley Cup for the Bruins after which he was promptly tripped by an opposing play and sent flying through the air like Superman.  The photo has lived on for four decades and on Monday, to celebrate the 40th Anniversary, the Boston Bruins will unveil a bronze statue of “The Goal” outside TD Garden in Boston.

What a fitting day to celebrate the anniversary of this incredible goal and moment in hockey history as the Bruins host the Philadelphia Flyers Monday night and can wrap up the series and punch their ticket to the Eastern Conference Final against the winner of the Montreal/Pittsburgh series.  The Bruins are undefeated at home during this year’s playoffs, winning every home game by one goal, and look to extend that streak on Monday and force all the ladies in Philadelphia to shave off their playoff beards.  Don’t worry ladies…you’ll be able to show them off all weekend..but have the razors ready on Monday night!
